Student teaching is the capstone experience of the teacher licensure program. For licensure in grades 9-12 in English, Math, Science, or Social Studies, the student teaching experience is combined with the methods course for each area. During the first four weeks of the fifteen week capstone semester, candidates will learn about the content methods specific to their area. The last eleven weeks will be devoted to student teaching in a local high school. Candidates seeking licensure in Art, Music, Physical Education, and Theatre will be placed in the local K-12 schools for the entire capstone semester. Elementary candidates will also be placed in a local elementary school for the entire fifteen weeks.
