| Dr. John B. Padgett |
Assistant Professor of English
Brevard College |
BREVARD, N.C. Welcome to my home page. Originally from Hampton, S.C., I attended Clemson University, earning a B.A. degree in English in 1988 and an M.A. in English in 1991. I completed a Ph.D. in English at the University of Mississippi in 2004.
My major academic research areas include Southern literature, historical literature, environmental literature, popular culture, and the Romantic and Modernist movements. Before earning my doctorate, I worked as a journalist and editor at several newspapers in South Carolina.
In addition to articles, reviews, and other academic papers, my publication credits include two major academic web sites: William Faulkner on the Web, about the Nobel Prize-winning Southern novelist, and The Mississippi Writers Page, a wide-ranging resource about writers from the state of Mississippi.
I joined the faculty at Brevard College in the Fall of 2004, where I teach classes in literature, communication, and writing. I also serve as the faculty advisor for the student newspaper, The Clarion.
I live near Brevard, N.C., with my wife, Esther, three cats, and three dogs.
