journal photos, and drawling from my journal

It was a dark and stormy night, in Salisbury North Carolina, the day is July 13 and the year is 1984. George Orwell had predicted that by this year all society would live in a high degree of propaganda. Ronald Regan is the president of the United States, and John McEnroe is dominating men’s tennis. My mother is giving birth to me. My father is pleading that she hold on just a little longer, he did not want me to be born on Friday the thirteenth, an unlucky day. So I came out on July 14, Bastille day, Woody Guthrie’s, and Gustav Klimts  Birth day. These two men would became idols of mine long before I knew that I shared there birth day.

I have always loved to draw, by the time I was six I had done an abstract expressionist mural on all the walls in my new home in the medium of crayon. Despite this, my parents did not take my crayons away.  In the fifth grade I decided I would be a painter for the rest of my life. I am an art major with a painting emphasis at Brevard college, and plan on going to grad school right out of undergrad. Painting is who I am. Only god knows what would have happened if Sam and Alicia Post had done the conventionally correct thing, and taken those colored sticks of wax out of my hands..

My parents gave me a guitar, for my 15th birth day. My love for music consumes me like the oceans consume the earth. I now play the banjo in an old time string band, called kings creek. The band consist of a guitar, and open back banjo, and a fiddle.

I play tennis for Brevard College. Tennis has always been a big part of my life. I feel that competing athletically was very important in my growing up, and servers as an outlet for discipline and patients.

I come from a very culturally Jewish family, and was raised Jewish. Most of my fathers side is Eastern European. My mothers side is Mexican. I have always tried to be very knowledgeable about my roots and my family.

I have lived in North Carolina for 20 years, my whole life. I have never once been out side of North America, and hardly out of the south, I looked

foreword to going to Greece, it will be a new experience.
