I was born in Yale Hospital in Connecticut on March 21 984. I lived in Connecticut until the middle of third grade where my family moved to Charleston South Carolina. At first my dad got job offer to work in the Medical University of South Carolina, which my mom was very excited about.
My mom applied for a job at the Medical University of South Carolina because she wanted to live closer to her parents. Her parents lived in Charleston, which would be an added bonus for him as well as being able to work in the same place as her husband. It actually turned out that her dad and brother worked at the hospital that she was applying to.
After about four or more months she got a call saying that she was due for an interview. She eventually got a job as being a professor of microbiology at the University. A year later in December of my third grade year we finally sold our house in Connecticut and drove down to Charleston.
For my Elementary years of schooling I attended Orange Grove Elementary which was rated one of the best out of the Charleston County area. I personally hated going to this school and wanted to get out as soon as possible. The only problem was where was I to go after elementary school? The middle schools in Charleston County were and still are very poor in academic standers. My family started looking around at the private schools for me since they wanted the best education for me they could possibly find.
When I came to Charleston I had gotten interested in art lessons and had become a great artist. My family found out that there was a school that had opened a year ago that was for the arts and this was when I was in fourth grade. When I went to fifth grade I made a portfolio to help try and get me in the school. It was the School of Arts for middle and High school. I did get into the school and decided to go there for middle and hi.
I absolutely loved the school and had an opportunity to have an hour and half a lesson each day of school on art. I even went to this school for high school.
During my senior year of college I went to a job fair for different colleges. I came across a table of the Brevard College poster that had a picture of a person climbing a rock face. I was so excited because I was very interested in climbing due to my brother and thought that it would be cool to go to a school where I could do arts and climbing at the same time. I started talking to the representative and he made me very interested in wanting to go to Brevard College. I did get into Brevard College and have been here for two years now and plan to graduate with an art degree after four years. |
