Todd awoke me at 7:00 to tell me that Callie was at the airport but her bag was not. I dressed quickly and took a cab out to the airport. She was very glad to see me and was in remarkably good spirits considering her continuing travel ordeals. We awaited the arrival of the next plane, but her bag was not on it. At that point she was feeling faint so we took a cab back to our hotel. She rallied quickly and went out to an introduction to the La Chonta Forest project. I was wiped so I stayed at the hotel and took a nap. The group returned around 12:30. We started loading the bus when LAB called to say Callie's bag had arrived on the 1:00 flight. We made a detour to the airport to pick up the bag and then headed toward San Ramon. Callie sat with me, very excited to be in Bolivia . It is her first time out of the U.S. At San Ramon, she bought a hammock from a vendor who sold it to her through the window. We continued our long drive to Guarayos and stopped for a simple dinner at a place just out of town. We were all grateful that it was just a short hop to the Hotel Iguaus. It is a fairly new and clean hotel with few extra amenities. Todd and I shared a room and went to bed soon after our arrival. |
