| I got up at 7:30. We walked up to Alexander’s for breakfast
spending a lot of time talking about the Sierras Subandinas with the others.
Afterward, Matt, Rich, and I went to an Internet café to catch up
on email. Then, Matt and I commenced the task of wrapping the samples
and putting them into the bags. We broke for lunch at the Andromeda
where most of our discussion focused on Tibet and Asia as well as industry
projects in central Utah.
After lunch, I finished packing the samples and roped the bags up. I got all of the Pmag samples into two bags and handed them over to Pedro. He will pick me up at 5 A.M. tomorrow for my 7:00 flight. I wonder how much the overbaggage charges will be. I’ll bet I have 150 pounds of rock. Then, I packed up the rest of my gear. I certainly won’t be traveling lightly. Traveling with rocks sucks! Naturally, I found some more Pmag samples in my backpack, that and the mostly defleshed vicuña skull that I collected for Jennifer Frick are with my personal gear. I can't believe I've carried that thing on my back since the day I found it! We went to Pronto’s for dinner with Pete, Nadine, and Jason. It was a merry time for my last night in Bolivia. Afterward we went to the gringo pool hall but I was tired so Nadine and I walked back to the hotel. My wake-up call will be at 4:30. She and Jason are going to the Sierras Subandinas tomorrow so she’ll get up at 6:30. I am pretty sure that Pete, Brian, Nadine and I will stay in touch; our common interests run deep. |
