Brevard College GEOL 270/AH 290 Field Trip to GREECE
JR's Journal Greer to Somewhere Over the Atlantic |
My alarm went off at 3:00 AM. I jumped out of bed and discovered that Joan was already up. I hopped in the shower and then dressed. Then, I put the last few things in my bag before going out for my breakfast. The coffee tasted extra good. Joan went back to bed as I loaded the Miata. After kissing her good-bye, I hopped in the car and pulled out of the driveway. It was 4:35. Not surprisingly, there were next to no cars on the road. I made it up to Anne and Bob's house in 55 minutes. They and Drew were already to go and the van was already out in the road. I loaded my things and parked my car. We were on our way by 5:55. I drove the van for the two hour trip to Charlotte . Even though it was raining, it was easy because of the light Sunday morning traffic. We checked in. Our United/Delta flight was run by MSA Air under US Airways which is apparently the least bankrupt. It was an easy flight and we were soon in Newark . From there we took a cab to JFK which, for 4 of us, was cheaper than the shuttle. We hung out in the JFK Terminal for about 5 hours. Anne and I finished grading the final exams. We ate lunch and then I read Scientific American. Our Olympic Airlines flight was ready and we boarded. Once airborne I watched an Eddie Murphy/Robert DeNiro movie. Afterward, I fell asleep pretty easily. |
