We landed at Ezeiza at 6:30, right on time. Once we entered the terminal we had to stand on an interminably long line to pass through migraciones. Their motto must be “Treat your job like you have never done it before.” The Argentine fog is still alive and well. Our bags were waiting for us, at least. We breezed through customs without stopping. Outside, our bus driver met us and we were soon driving into the city. It was a Sunday morning so traffic was extremely light. We made it to the Hotel 8 de Octubre, on the corner of Paraguay y Uruguay, really quickly. I had the same room I had in December. I managed to doze for an hour before leading the group to the Parilla La Estancia for a superb meal with lots of wine. Then, Samm and I took a cab to our bus and brought it back to Lavalle y Pelligrini where we picked up the rest of the group for out city tour. Our guide spoke English very well and showed us around Retiro, Palermo, and Palermo Chico before taking us to La Recoleta cemetery. We went to Evita’s tomb and wandered around a little before regrouping to continue the tour, only we lost Motley. I told the tour to go on while I stayed at our meeting spot waiting for him and drinking a cup of coffee. After half an hour he was still a no-show so I hopped a cab back to the hotel. Motley showed up in another cab about half an hour later. I fell asleep for two hours before the 7:15 call came for the nightclub show at La Ventana. Apparently the city tour was cut a little short because everyone was so tired. The club bus picked us up at 7:30. Ken and I had a stage side table. After an excellent meal, we saw a fantastic show with tango, singing, Andean music, and gaucho dancing. The gaucho did an incredible dance with two whirling bolos that beat a rhythm each time they hit the floor. It was amazing. Everyone had a great time, but when the show ended sleep had us back at the hotel by 12:15. Everyone went straight to bed. I arranged a 4:30 wake-up call and went to bed after a shower. |
