Day 9 Fotos from Torres del Paine National Park
| Because of our late arrival the night before, our first view of the magnificent mountains in the park had to wait until morning. | ![]() |

A group of us hiked along the north side of Lago Nordenskjöld. Celeste and Amanda G. walk along a pond fed by groundwater as is evidenced by the blue water. |
| The blue water pond contrasts with the distinctly greenish water of the glacially fed Lago Nordenskjöld seen in the background and in the images below. | ![]() |

The structures in the shales around the lake are textbook examples. This exposure of a syncline on the south shore of the lake is highlighted by a couple of interbedded tuffs in the Tobífera Formation. This syncline is present in the videomosaic below at a much smaller scale so it is hard to see. |

| Distortion in this videomosaic of Lago Nordenskjöld gives the impression that the relatively straight south shoreline is bowed into the lake. The towers are above the northern shore but were covered by clouds the entire afternoon. |
