After all of the work to prepare for the trip and make sure as much of it would go as smoothly as possible, we all made it down to Argentina and Chile. I'd like to thank my two colleagues in this adventure who helped to make it all possible. They are my friends Angel Mansilla from SumajKay Travel and Edna Collis from the Geological Society of America. Without their extensive contributions none of this would have been possible. The other thing that made this trip a success was the fantastic group of people who went along. I always feel like I'm a coach when I bring people to Argentina. I have to get them into shape so that eating dinner at 10:00 PM isn't that big of deal and get them to understand that Argentine and Chilean wine will solve most problems and worries. It was particularly hard for me to determine how a group this large would put up with the frequent, long bus rides that we needed to take to get to the field sites. The long austral summer days made this somewhat easier to withstand but I really don't think anyone got half as much sleep as they are used to getting. I know I didn't. I'd also like to thank Heidi Galloway who managed to read and enter my handwritten journal into MS Word format so that it could be presented here. Here is a list of the participants. Most of us have email accounts and
